CALGARY — A Calgary woman has taken home the second $1 million prize in the province’s “Open for Summer Lottery.”

The prize has been awarded to Amie Gee of Calgary after her name was drawn from a pool of more than 1.85 million entries.

In addition to the $1 million dollar grand prize, 42 other Albertans have taken home prizes donated by Air Canada, WestJet, and the Rocky Mountaineer and Juniper Hotel.

“I can think of no better way to celebrate getting vaccinated by planning a fantastic trip, and thanks to our corporate partners at WestJet, Air Canada, and Rocky Mountaineer, there are now over 40 Albertans who are planning to do just that,” said Premier Jason Kenney in a release. “Congratulations to Amie, and all of the other winners. I encourage Albertans who haven’t gotten their second dose to do so as soon as possible to qualify for the final draw at the end of September.”

The final draw at the end of September is set to hand out another $1 million grand prize to a lucky Albertan, along with another pool of prizes.

Albertans who register for that lottery, and have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine by Sept. 23, will be eligible to enter.

Anyone who registered for the first two draws will automatically be entered into the third draw.
