CALGARY — In just the last day, Alberta has reported 18 new COVID-19 related deaths.
That’s the highest single-day death count since Jan. 23 when 24 deaths were recorded over a 24-hour period.
Alberta has now reported 35 COVID-related deaths since Friday.

As for new infections, the province reported 1,166 new cases of COVID-19 after more than 10,700 tests were completed for a positivity rate of around 10.9 per cent.
There are now 647 people in hospital with COVID-19, 147 of which are in the ICU.
Of those in the ICU, 89 per cent are unvaccinated.
Wednesday evening, the province updated the active case count in the province.
There are now 15,618 active infections in Alberta, an increase of 132 from Tuesday.
