EDMONTON – The Alberta government’s COVID-19 cabinet committee is meeting Tuesday afternoon to discuss the current state of the pandemic in the province.

Premier Jason Kenney and Health Minister Tyler Shandro are among those in the meeting which includes six other members of the cabinet, including Finance Minister Travis Toews.

There’s been no indication of what kind of public health measures they could be discussing, but the UCP has routinely steered Alberta away from the idea of a vaccine passport despite calls from medical professionals.

Last week, Shandro said Alberta wouldn’t implement anything new until they found out if the changes announced on Sept. 3 were working to slow down the spread.

Infectious disease doctors have said those measures–reinstating the indoor mask rule and cutting off alcohol sales at 10 p.m.–would do little to curb cases.
