FORT MCMURRAY (660 NEWS) – Construction delays have forced a pair of upcoming Fort McMurray Oil Barons games out of Centrefire Place.

Work at the arena won’t be wrapped up in time for the home opener on September 24 or the following night’s home game.

As a result, both games have been moved to Drayton Valley for a 7 p.m. puck drop on Friday and a 5 p.m. start on Saturday.

Home opener pregame festivities for the Oil Barons will be rescheduled once there is a firm completion date for the construction at Centrefire Place.

Tickets for this week’s games will be honoured on February 18 and 19 as these games against Drayton Valley have been moved to Fort McMurray.

The Oil Barons have kicked off the current AJHL season with a pair of wins. They beat the Whitecourt Wolverines 3-1 on September 17 and 4-2 the following night.
