CALGARY — Alberta is reporting its first COVID-19 related death in a patient under 20 years of age.
The summary page released by Alberta Health indicates the person was 18-years-old.
This comes as Alberta reports another high death count, with 20 more people dying due to COVID-19 over the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, hospitalizations continue to climb to record highs, with 1,040 people now in hospital, 230 of which are in the ICU.
Of those in the ICU, 203 are unvaccinated, or about 88 per cent.
As for new cases, the province identified 1,336 new infections after more than 14,500 tests were completed for a positivity rate of around 9.2 per cent.
Of the new infections, more than 73 per cent are unvaccinated Albertans.

There are now 20,304 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta.
Of active cases in the province, Calgary now has 4,032 of them, while Edmonton has 3,452.
As for vaccinations in Alberta, the province has now administered more than 5.87 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
Of the eligible population, 81.8 per cent have received at least one dose of vaccine, while 73 per cent are fully vaccinated.
