CALGARY — Alberta Premier Jason Kenney and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke for 20 minutes on Wednesday morning for a brief discussion on pandemic aid in Alberta.

Trudeau spoke about the federal government’s offer to provide support for the province by supplying additional care resources.

Kenney thanked Trudeau for the offer and confirmed that both levels of government are working to provide the resources needed to help Alberta in its fight against the fourth wave of COVID-19.

Trudeau also took time to thank Alberta for supplying additional resources, such as personal protective equipment, to other provinces at the beginning of the pandemic.

Kenney then asked the federal government to provide additional doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine to Alberta, saying that Albertans in areas of low vaccine uptake have said they are waiting on more doses of that vaccine to be made available.

Trudeau said the federal government would be happy to help on that front.

Following the pandemic talks, Kenney said the province wants to work with Trudeau’s new cabinet on “ensuring regulatory stability and predictability so large-scale investments in job-creating and emissions-lowering projects can proceed.”
