Active COVID-19 infections stable in Fort McMurray as they continue to decline across Alberta

FORT MCMURRAY (CityNews 660) – Active infections of COVID-19 are relatively stable in Wood Buffalo and are steadily declining across Alberta.

This despite a total of 2,181 new cases identified in the province since Friday.

Active cases in Alberta have decreased to 12,302. In Fort McMurray there are 241 and in rural Wood Buffalo there are 13.

Sadly, 30 more deaths were reported on Monday. To date, 2,976 Albertans have died, including 20 Wood Buffalo residents.

Total COVID-19 hospitalizations and ICU admissions have decreased, now sitting at 981 and 225, respectively.

Vaccination rates continue to tick up, with 86 per cent of eligible Albertans with at least one dose and 77.4 per cent fully immunized.
