Fort McMurray unofficial results for 2021 Municipal and School Board Election

FORT MCMURRAY (CityNews) – Mayor-elect Sandy Bowman will take over the city’s top job earning close to 5,700 votes in Monday’s election, beating Verna Murphy who earned close to 4,200 votes.

The unofficial results from the 2021 Municipal and School Board election have been tallied.

Almost 26 percent of eligible voters cast ballots in the 2021 election in RMWB with a record number of voters (5259) also voting in advance polls, including first-time drive-thru voting opportunities.

There are also 7 Trustee positions for the Fort McMurray Public School Division. The FMPSD encompasses the Municipality’s Wards 1 and 3, which includes Fort McMurray, Draper and Saprae Creek Estates.

The trustees include Angela Adams, Jonathan Lambert, Linda Mywaart, Tim O’hara, Jason Schulz, Malcolm Setter and Lorna Spargo.

There are five Fort McMurray Roman Catholic Separate School Trustees which encompasses the Municipality’s Wards 1 and 3, which includes Fort McMurray, Draper and Saprae Creek Estates.

The trustees include Paula Galenzoski, Jonathan Higdon, Anthony Hoffman, Kelsey Janvier and Catherine Aline Langmead.

The city of Calgary also elected its first-ever female mayor voting in Jyoti Gondek, who won by a large margin over Jeromy Farkas. And residents in Edmonton have elected Amarjeet Sohi, who becomes the capital’s first South Asian mayor.
