Red Cross nurses brought in to relieve Alberta’s COVID-ravaged frontlines say health-care workers are hanging in there.
Shelby, who is originally from Okotoks but has been travelling around Canada to bolster hospitals during the pandemic, says she’s been hearing how much they’re appreciated.
“That’s what I’m hearing, ‘Oh that’s incredible.’ I don’t think that what I’m doing is all that incredible but I’m reminded every day that it is. And it’s nice to have that feedback for sure, because it’s easy to forget when things are busy.”
George is an RN who’s been flown wherever he’s needed during the pandemic. Right now, he’s bolstering staff at one of the COVID-testing centres in Red Deer.
“They are doing the best they can and I’m glad I’m here because what I’m doing is actually supporting staff that work long hours or many shifts and permitting them to have days off and to have that resource go back to the hospital.”
Some 20 medical workers have been sent to Alberta by the Red Cross.
