Over the last 24 hours, Alberta has reported 442 new cases of COVID-19 on 7,700 tests for a positivity rate of around six per cent.
The latest numbers being provided by Dr. Deena Hinshaw, who held a solo live update on Tuesday afternoon.

As daily case counts continue to see a decline in the province, so do active infections.
As of Tuesday afternoon, there are now 9,267 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta.
At this time last week, the province was reporting 11,402 active infections. A more than 2,000 case differences in the last seven days alone.
There are now 836 people in hospital with COVID-19, 183 of which are in the ICU.
Meanwhile, Hinshaw reported 12 more people have died from COVID-19 in the province.

Hinshaw took time on Tuesday to reinforce the importance of vaccines and just how much of a difference they make in protecting against severe outcomes of the virus.
“In the last three months, people over 80 years old who weren’t vaccinated, are 12 times more likely to die from COVID than those who were fully vaccinated,” she said. “The protection further improves when we look at younger groups.”
She says Albertans 70 to 79 years old who are unvaccinated were 52 times more likely to die from COVID in the last three months than those who were vaccinated.
As of Tuesday afternoon, more than 6.48 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta.
Of those 12 and older in the province, 86.7 per cent have received at least one dose, while 79.2 per cent are fully immunized.
