Active COVID infections dip below 9,000 in Alberta

Day by day the COVID situation in Alberta continues to improve.

Over the last several days, it seems as though the high peak of the fourth wave the province once rode has dropped off as active infections continue to decline.

On Wednesday, Alberta reported 645 new cases of COVID-19 on more than 11,000 tests for a positivity rate of around 5.9 per cent.

Since Tuesday, the active case count in the province has dropped by over 500 cases to 8,733.

The province also reporting 10 more people have died from COVID-19 in Alberta.

As for hospitalizations, there are now 810 people in hospital, 184 of which are in the ICU.

To date, nearly 6.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta.

Of those 12 and older in the province, 86.8 per cent have received at least one dose, while 79.4 per cent are fully immunized.
