Active COVID infections hold steady as hospitalizations see drop through weekend

As the province moves closer to the holiday season, the fourth wave of COVID-19 in Alberta has held steady over the last week.

Since Friday, there have been 1,300 new cases of the virus reported in Alberta, though the active case count in the province has only increased by one.

The weekend COVID-19 breakdown is as follows:

There are now 6,387 active infections in Alberta.

 

Hospitalization numbers continue to see a steady drop, with 608 people now in hospital with COVID-19, a 52 patient decrease from Friday.

Of those in hospital, 135 are in the ICU.

Alberta Health reporting on Monday 13 more people have died with COVID-19 over the last 72 hours.

As of Monday afternoon, more than 6.63 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta.

Of those 12 and older in the province, 87.5 per cent have received at least one dose, while 81.2 per cent are fully immunized.
