The COVID situation in Alberta continues to trend in a positive direction as case numbers steadily decline.

On Tuesday, the province reported 422 new cases on more than 8,300 tests for a positivity rate of around 5.1 per cent.

Currently, there are 6,090 active cases of the virus in Alberta, a decrease of nearly 300 cases from Monday.

It’s the lowest mark for active infections seen in Alberta since Aug. 19.

This is another reason why Dr. Deena Hinshaw announced on Tuesday she will only be providing live updates on Tuesday’s going forward.

While active infections continued their decline on Tuesday, hospitalization numbers stayed relatively the same.

There are now 608 people in hospital with COVID, 128 of which are in the ICU.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw announcing over the last 24 hours, four more COVID-related deaths have been reported to Alberta Health.

“Following a review as per our usual process, four previously reported deaths have been reclassified as non-COVID,” Hinshaw explained. “As a result, the total deaths will increase today by four.”
