The number of Omicron COVID-19 cases has risen to four in Alberta.

“We identified one additional case of the Omicron variant in AB, in a recently returned traveller from Nigeria,” Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said in a tweet Thursday.

The province announced earlier this week it had detected three cases of the variant of concern.

The confirmation of another variant case came as health officials reported 366 new cases of COVID-19 and two more deaths, bringing the total to 3,257.

Hospitalizations declined by five from the previous day to 419, with 76 people in the ICU.

Active cases also dropped to 4,539, a decline of 80 from Wednesday.

Nearly 90 per cent of Albertans over the age of 12 are partially vaccinated with one dose, while 84.1 per cent are fully vaccinated.
