Alberta Health Services (AHS) is putting an end to some troubling misinformation as kids aged five to 11 get their first COVID vaccine dose.
According to AHS, rumours have been spreading that claim children are being hospitalized with adverse events after getting their shot.
“At this time, AHS has not had any pediatric hospitalizations related to COVID-19 vaccination,” AHS said in a tweet on Wednesday.
We are aware of misinformation that a number of children are being hospitalized at Alberta's Children's Hospital with adverse events following their COVID-19 vaccination. At this time, AHS has not had any pediatric hospitalizations related to COVID-19 vaccination. 1/4

As of Wednesday afternoon, 72,438 kids aged five to 11 have received a COVID vaccine.
AHS adds that of the more than seven million COVID vaccine doses administered to date in Alberta, just over 2,000 people have reported adverse events.
Further, as of Nov. 26, 2021, nearly 60 million doses of vaccine have been administered in Canada. Of those, serious adverse events were reported in 0.011% of all doses administered Canada-wide. https://t.co/cMUWO2KxjC 3/4
