Alberta identified 6,257 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, however, the actual figure is likely higher due to limited PCR testing capacity.
The cases were found after 16,231 tests were completed, meaning the positivity rate is 38.5 per cent.
Known active infections have grown to 43,414.
This is the first day Alberta hospitalizations have been over 500 since November 18th, when there were 503 in hospital along with 93 in ICU.

The number of people admitted to hospital increased to 504, a level not seen since mid-November. The number of people in intensive care remained unchanged at 64.
There were two more deaths reported to Alberta Health in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 3,338.
As of Friday, 79.5 per cent of all Albertans have received one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, 73 per cent are fully immunized.
More than 7.8 million doses have been administered across the province.
