FORT MCMURRAY – Residents of Fort McMurray – Lac La Biche will go to the polls on March 15.

Premier Jason Kenney has called a byelection for the riding, which was needed after Laila Goodridge resigned to run for the Conservative Party in last Fall’s federal election.

Former Wildrose Party leader Brian Jean is the United Conservative Party candidate for the riding. He founded the UCP alongside Kenney but has been outspoken against the Premier’s leadership.

Ariana Mancini is the NDP candidate, Paul Hinman is running for the Wildrose Independence Party, and Marilyn Burns for the Advantage Party of Alberta.

Anyone else wishing to run for the vacant seat must file nomination papers by 2 p.m. on February 25.
