Mounties in Alberta say traffic is being rerouted and cleanup is underway after 43 train cars carrying potash derailed Sunday morning.

RCMP says no one was injured after the westbound Canadian Pacific Railway train left its track at around 8 a.m. near the southern Alberta town of Fort Macleod.

A police news release says there is no danger to the public.

Firefighters and CP crew members are on the scene.

RCMP is asking people to avoid the area until traffic resumes.

The news release says the cleanup can take several hours.
