The 2022 Baseball Canada 18U National Championship presented by Pepsi returns to Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo.

It’s the second time the region will host this particular tournament in four years.

The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) and Fort McMurray Minor Baseball Association (FMMBA) partnered to make the successful bid with Baseball Canada.

Our region previously hosted Baseball Canada events in 2016 and 2018.

Mike Mayuk is co-chair of the 2022 Baseball Canada 18U National Championship presented by Pepsi Organizing Committee and FMMBA Treasurer.

He spoke of the region’s recent history of baseball and its growing popularity.

“In both 2016 and 2018, our region embraced these events as sponsors, volunteers and fans. This year, after a long period when events such as this could not take place, we know that our region will once again come out to support the event and our visiting guests.”

Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo hosted the 2016 Baseball Canada Cup mere weeks after the Horse River wildfire.
