The Municipality has confirmed work at the Janvier Water Treatment Plant is complete.

On June 16, 2022, the Janvier Water Treatment Plant lost power resulting in a temporary loss of pressure.

In an updated statement from the Municipality, crews responded quickly to restore service beginning that morning.

“In response to the power outage, crews flushed the distribution system and collected bacteriological samples from both the hamlet and the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation.”

Officials with Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Indigenous Services Canada are on hand and aware of the situation.

The RMWB said crews met all regulatory requirements, including water sampling and testing.

“All samples collected were aligned with AHS and Indigenous Services Canada regulatory requirements, confirming the water remains safe to drink.”

Through the process, AHS and Indigenous Services Canada determined a boil water advisory was not required.

To aid in the flushing process, the Municipality asked all residents in Janvier to flush their indoor taps for five minutes to expel any discoloured water.

The RMWB said the discoloured water should clear up upon flushing.
