The Municipality unfurled its new Street Banner Program for 2022.

Artists and creative individuals of all ages and skill levels are invited to submit artwork until July 29.

The RMWB said this year’s theme is Northern Spirit.

“Share a design that captures our Northern Spirit and showcases the dynamic cultural fabric of the region. Wood Buffalo has strong global connections, and vibrant culture that supports a diverse region rich in history. Our Northern Spirit is dynamic and adds to the cultural diversity of languages, traditions, celebrations, sports, activities, and landscapes that can be found here in Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo.”

The Municipality added artwork may feature events, which include but are not limited to the Arctic Winter Games and the International Decade of Indigenous Languages.

A panel of judges from community organizations will select which designs will be displayed on banners throughout the region from the fall of 2022 to spring 2023.

Artists behind the winning designs will also receive a $500 artist design fee and a screened banner.

Information on submission guidelines, and where to pick up banner paper, is available on the Municipality’s website.

The deadline for submissions is July 29 at 4:00 p.m., with the winners notified on or before Aug. 10, 2022.
