Helen Meyer is the Chair of the local chapter of the organization, Wood Buffalo Communities in Bloom committee.

“Our goal is to maintain the full five-bloom rating in the Communities in Bloom Challenge. We encourage all residents to help continue our success and beautify the community by weeding gardens, mowing lawns, and tidying yard spaces and neighbourhood areas.”

Meyer said the region will compete in six categories against cities across Canada and around the world.

  • Community appearance
  • Environmental actions
  • Heritage conservation
  • Tree management
  • Landscape areas
  • Plant and floral displays

Results will be announced in October at the annual symposium and awards in Victoria, B.C.
