Students attending Northland School Division (NSD) are sharing Indigenous stories and tales in a new book.

Available on the online retailer Amazon, students released a collection of stories titled “Finding Fire Within: By Reconnecting With The Land”.

In a release, the NSD said the book came about from a student-led project.

“During the project, students listened to local Elders during storytelling sessions. The students then received permission from the Elders, to create a book using the stories that were shared during these sessions. The students put the stories in their own words, drawing pictures to accompany the text.”

Cenovus Energy also provided funding for the book project.

NSD added by sharing culture and legacy in the collection of stories, they hope they will inspire and bring joy to readers.

Officially published on May 12, 2022, the paperback copy of “Finding Fire Within” is now available on Amazon.
