Police arrest pair connected to downtown robbery

Wood Buffalo RCMP arrested two people involved in an armed robbery of a home in downtown Fort McMurray.

On Aug. 25, 2022, at 8:20 a.m. officers responded to a complaint of a robbery in progress at a residence, and arrived just as the suspects were fleeing the scene.

Both individuals, a 31-year-old from Fort McKay and a 33-year-old from Fort McMurray, were quickly apprehended.

No injuries were reported.

RCMP charged both with robbery with a firearm, and break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The 31-year-old faces additional charges:

  • Failure to Comply with a Release Order X 2
  • Possession of Fentanyl
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Unlawfully Possess Cannabis in a Public Place Exceeding 30 Grams

 

Meanwhile, police also charged the 33-year-old with failure to comply with a release order.

Both are scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 29, 2022.
