RCMP arrest couple involved in armed robberies

UPDATE: Wood Buffalo RCMP have arrested two people in connection to several armed robberies over the weekend.

According to police, the first reported incident on Sept. 10, 2022, was in Dickinsfield.

At 5:54 a.m., police were notified after a man and a woman robbed the Shell gas station at 142 Dickins Drive using a firearm.

It was the first of at least three robberies or carjackings said to involve a 33-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman.

On Sept. 12, police issued warrants for their arrest, and the pair were taken into custody without incident at a downtown residence in Fort McMurray later that morning.

RCMP charged the 33-year-old man with the following charges:

  • Three counts of Robbery with a firearm
  • Three counts of Careless use of a firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a firearm
  • Take Motor Vehicle without consent
  • Four counts of Possess Firearm or Weapon while prohibited
  • Three additional counts of failing to comply with a release order related to bail conditions imposed on Sept. 7, 2022.

 

The 30-year-old woman also faces similar charges:

  • Three counts of Robbery with a firearm
  • Three counts of Careless use of a firearm
  • Robbery
  • Take Motor Vehicle without consent

 

Wood Buffalo RCMP thank the public for their cooperation with this investigation.

Both suspects will remain in police custody pending a judicial hearing.
