Interim Executive Director selected for Girls Inc.

According to Board of Directors President Tasneem Rahim, Sundas is well known for her love for the region, advocacy of women, volunteerism, and boundless professionalism.

Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta have announced Sundas Shamshad as the new Interim Executive Director.

According to the Board of Directors, Sundas will lead the group until August 2023.

She said she’s excited to assume the role.

“I have always been impressed with Girls Inc. and am delighted to lead the organization. The breadth and depth of the group’s programming to empower girls is incredible. It is an honour and a privilege to help lead the next generation of strong, smart, bold girls.”

Living in Fort McMurray for eight years, Sundas is a familiar face in the social profit and volunteer sector, receiving the Women Of Inspiration award in March 2022.

She’s the volunteer founder of the Sisters in Cancer YMM support group, and volunteer treasure for the NorthWord literary journal.

“We are absolutely delighted to have Sundas lead Girls Inc.,” Board of Directors President Tasneem Rahim. “Her love for our region, advocacy of women through her fantastic volunteer work, and boundless professionalism make her a perfect fit for the role of Interim Executive Director.”

Sundas also serves on the board for Edmonton-based Compassion House Foundation as an ambassador.

Sundas will lead the local chapter for Girls Inc. National and oversee staff and stakeholders in high-level discussions.
