RCMP nab erratic driver in downtown core

Police arrested a motorist in a side by side for dangerous driving in Fort McMurray.

On Sept. 21, 2022, at 9:07 p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP said they received several complaints of an erratic driver in the downtown core.

Officer tried to pull him over, but the driver fled the traffic stop in his vehicle.

However, RCMP located the side by side a short time later, and arrested him.

A 23-year-old man from Fort McMurray, Alta. has been charged with a total of 10 charges:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Two counts of operating a motor vehicle while prohibited
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Fail to comply with breath demand
  • Resist arrest
  • Operate a motor vehicle without registration
  • Operate motor vehicle without insurance
  • Transport liquor within easy access

 

The accused is due in court on Sept. 29, 2022.
