The Fort McMurray Airport Authority (FMAA) has named its new President and CEO.

Effective Jan. 1, 2023, Denean Robinson has accepted the role on a permanent basis.

She served as interim President and CEO of the FMAA since September following the departure of RJ Steenstra.

Board Chair Mike Chwelos said the authority chose Robinson among other several highly qualified candidates.

“She has six years experience as the Chief Financial Officer and Vice-President of Corporate Services with the organization. In that time, she has displayed unwavering commitment to the airport’s interests and success.”

In the last two years, Robinson secured $36-million in grant funding from all levels of government to maintain airport operations, despite of the pandemic and travel decline.

“With Denean’s leadership and support, FMAA achieved Airport Council International World’s Global Carbon and Health Program Accreditations and in 2020, was personally recognized as Airport Council International – North America’s Finance Professional of the Year, serving under 2-million passengers.”

Robinson, who serves on several local committees and boards, is also the Treasurer of the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce.
