An investigation is underway into a fatal residential fire in Chipewyan Prairie First Nation.
Wood Buffalo RCMP said it received a report of a fire in the First Nation on Jan. 12, 2023, at approximately 5:30 a.m.
In a statement, police said emergency responders found one person dead inside the burnt structure.
As of publication, the identity of the victim has yet to be confirmed.
While the fire doe not appear to be suspicious, but RCMP have called in the Provincial Fire Investigator to determine the cause.
