The Municipality has been named one of Alberta’s Top 75 Employers in 2023.

Organized by MediaCorp Canada Inc., the survey recognizes organizations like the RMWB that lead their industries in offering an exceptional place to work.

CAO Phil Thorkelsson said this highlights the excellence and dedication staff bring to their roles every day.

“This speaks to our culture at the Municipality, where we work collaboratively and support one another as we deliver services and projects to the communities across the region.”

MediaCorp evaluated Alberta business based on physical workplace, atmosphere, benefits, vacation time, employee communications, performance management, training, and community involvement.

Executive Editor Richard Yerema said this list is key as recent forecasts hint at significant job creation in the province.

“With growing demand for the latest skills and new ways of working, employers in the province are having to work harder to attract talent amid a very tight labour market.”

The Municipality scored high marks in wellness support through its employee well-being committee, maternity leave top-up for new mothers, and academic scholarships for kids of employees.

The creation of the Equity and Inclusion Office also allowed the RMWB to score well in social and work atmosphere.

Mayor Sandy Bowman thanked Thorkelsson and his staff for building a positive, inclusive workplace culture.

“We are fortunate to have community-minded people working every day at the Municipality to help make the region an even better place to live.”

An in-depth report on how the RMWB placed on Alberta’s Top Employers is available on the Municipality’s website.
