Cache of weapons seized from Fort McKay home

Wood Buffalo RCMP has arrested three people after seizing various weapons and drugs.

On Mar. 29, 2023, police, led by its Special Investigations Unit, executed a search warrant for a home in Fort McKay.

As a result of the search, RCMP said they seized several items.

“This includes approximately 50 grams of a white substance suspected to be cocaine and other drug-related paraphernalia. Several prohibited weapons were seized, including a sawed-off bolt-action rifle, nun chucks, knives, imitation firearms, ammunition and batons.”

A 40-year-old man from Fort McKay and a 39-year-old woman from Fort McMurray were arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Both are facing additional charges, such as the following:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking

 

The 40-year-old is scheduled to appear in court on Apr. 3, 2023.

A 44-year-old man from Fort McKay is also facing charges:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to order
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking

 

He and the 39-year-old woman are due in court on Apr. 25, 2023.
