Worker injured in bear attack at Base Plant
A worker at Suncor's Base Plant was taken to hospital after being attacked by a bear on Saturday, May 6, 2023. The company has confirmed they were released a few hours later.

Suncor Energy has confirmed one person has been injured in a bear attack at Base Plant.
Spokesman Leithan Slade said the incident occurred on May 6, 2023, at 8 p.m.
He added the victim was taken to hospital for treatment and then released a few hours later.

Slade said a full investigation is underway and wildlife management company, Bear Scare, is on site monitoring high-priority locations.
No word if the injured worker was employed by Suncor or a contractor.
On May 7, 2014, a Suncor worker was killed in a bear attack while working near Fort McMurray.
