Local man charged with luring teen girls in Ontario

Ontario police have charged a Fort McMurray man on accusations of child luring over social media.

According to police in Timmins, Ont., the suspect made separate contact with three teenage girls for a sexual purpose back in September 2022.

“Any illicit, unsavory, or persistent unwelcome contact should be reported to the police for investigation without delay.”

Investigators said the same man was arrested by ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit on June 1, 2023, based on similar criminal acts believed to have been committed in Alberta.

An arrest warrant has been issued for 27-year-old Jordan White of Fort McMurray.

Police have charged him with the following:

• Three counts of Luring a Person Under 16 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
• Two counts of Communicate with a Person Under 18 for the Purpose of Obtaining Sexual Services contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

• Two counts of Procuring Under 18 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

At this time, police added it’s important to be mindful of potential perils with engaging with strangers on any social media platform.

Police are also reminding parents and young people, who are typically more at risk, to be alert, aware, and make effective use of crime prevention resources.

“It is important to remember to be mindful of the potential but very tangible perils that exist when engaging with strangers on any social media platforms.”
