RCMP seize suspected cocaine following traffic stop

Wood Buffalo RCMP have arrested two women after an impaired driving investigation in downtown Fort McMurray.

On Aug. 9, 2023, at 7 p.m., police said officers received a call from a concerned citizen about a suspicious vehicle along Hardin Street near the Hwy. 63 turnoff.

RCMP conducted a traffic stop on a Grey 2022 Ram 1500 pick-up truck.

“During the course of that investigation, Police located a substance believed to be cocaine and subsequently arrested two vehicle occupants without incident.”

Police located 157 grams of suspected cocaine, along with digital scales and drug paraphernalia.

They also seized several cellular phones and different identification documents.

A 40-year-old woman from Sylvan Lake has been arrested.

Charges are pending, but RCMP said she’s due in court on Sept. 15, 2023.

Meanwhile, a 31-year-old woman from Fort McMurray was also arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of illegal possession of government documents.

She’s scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 30, 2023.
