No Doubt removes offensive music video

No Doubt has pulled their latest video following complaints about the clip’s depiction of Native American culture.

Billboard reports that the recently reformed band dropped their new vid for the single ‘Looking Hot’ on Friday, but then pulled it almost immediately following complaints from YouTube viewers.

E! Online reported that the video featured lead singer Gwen Stefani as a ‘sexy indian princess’ in the ‘sexy Western-themed video’ with bandmate Tony Kanal playing a tribesman who rescues the princess from cowboys played by Adrian Young and Tom Dumont.

On Saturday afternoon, the band released a statement, apologizing for offending fans.

“Our intention with our new video was never to offend, hurt or trivialize Native American people, their culture or their history,’ reads the statement.

The group says they tried to be careful and even floated the idea past Native friends, but now see the error of their ways.

“Although we consulted with Native American friends and Native American studies experts at the University of California, we realize now that we have offended people.  This is of great concern to us and we are removing the video immediately … We sincerely apologize to the Native American community and anyone else offended by this video.  Being hurtful to anyone is simply not who we are.”
