The Confederation Way bus lane is now in full effect, and violators will be on the hook for a $172 ticket starting this week.
The municipality says it mailed out more than seven hundred warning letters during the last two weeks to drivers who drove in the bus lane during the morning rush.
The city says some drivers have been obscuring their licence plates with snow to avoid the cameras, but it says it’s working with the RCMP to overcome that. Officers will be stationed along the bus lane to enforce it and to stop drivers from concealing their plates.
