Hwy63 construction starts today near Supertest and Fort MacKay access

Over the next 10 days, Highway 63 north of town is getting chip seal coating, which ultimately means more traction.

The province says, the work will affect both north and southbound traffic near Supertest Hill as well as the 2-lane section by the Fort MacKay access.

One lane will close at a time so traffic keeps moving, but the speed limit will drop to 50km/h through the construction zone.

The coating is a mix of rock chips and liquid asphalt, and not only adds to traction and therefore safety, but it also protects the roadway.

The work will be weather permitting.
