Council to discuss land deal, re-zoning at meeting tonight

It’s the first meeting of the new year for council, who meet tonight at 6:00.

Part of the agenda includes the proposed trade-off between the city and the province, where the RMWB would pay for improvements on Highway 63 and 69, and the province would transfer land in Parsons Creek and Saline Creek.

As well, council will be deciding whether or not to re-zone a couple pieces of land in Eagle Ridge and Saline Creek, to allow for liquor stores.

This decision was postponed by council last November, as they wanted to see how close a new store would be schools in the Eagle Ridge area.

Coming up on Friday at 1:00, an additional meeting will be held as council still needs to approve a 2014 budget.
