The Fort McMurray Public School District (FMPSD) is asking students to not wear any clown costumes to school or on school property this Halloween.
In a tweet the FMPSD said they believe that this decision is in the best interest of the students, staff and district.

Earlier this month all schools in the community were placed in “hold and secure” mode because of threats coming from an anonymous Instagram account.
There have been several reports about threats from individuals posing as clowns gaining international attention and some also resulting in criminal charges.
