So far $253,257 dollars has been raised to support Bo Cooper in his fight to beat a third diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

That is more than half of the initial $500,000 goal set by his friend Rob Van Hecke in an effort to raise the money needed to pay for experimental treatment in the United States.

Van Hecke told MyMcMurray it is possible that money won’t cover all of the costs but it will go a long way to helping ensure Bo Cooper gets the treatment he needs.

Bo Cooper is undergoing testing in efforts to qualify for a trial of the experimental treatments. There was a trial in Montreal but because of the treatments Bo Cooper was already receiving, Van Hecke said he didn’t qualify.

Fundraising efforts are continuing in the community including an Oilers alumni hockey game against the Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department on January 2nd, a Family Fun Day at Tour North Ranch January 3rd, and the Rock 97.9 bottle drive on January 5th.
