Dunvegan Gardens will be opening their property this weekend for some fall festivities.

Brad Friesen, Dunvegan Gardens Vice President of Operations, told MyMcMurray they want to bring the community together.

“Looks like a nice weekend and we had more pumpkins left over and stuff from our market garden that I can use and people always like to take those fall pictures,” said Friesen.

“Unfortunately with the cold weather that we’ve had this year, the corn maze no longer exists or we would’ve had that and been doing this kind of thing every weekend.”

Families can attend the event for $25 and will be able to participate in a variety of fall themed activities.

Friesen said the eventual goal for the business, if it doesn’t sell, is to move their market garden and all their operations back down to their property on Draper Road.

On May 15, Dunvegan Gardens re-zoning application was denied and Friesen said after waiting the six month requirement he plans on reapplying.

“We need things for people to do, we need things for families to do,” said Friesen.

“To me we should be encouraging that from within the municipality to those people outside, like myself, who want to actually bring these things for people to have something to do, that’s how we build a bigger, better, stronger community.”

The event will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and on Sunday from noon until 4 p.m.
