The Northern Lights Health Foundation’s (NLFH) 29th annual Festival of Trees, presented by Syncrude, raised $640,000.

This brings the grand total raised by the three day holiday kickoff over the past years to $8.5 million.

Over 200 sponsors, 200 volunteers and 8,500 guests participated in this years events that included the Ladies Holiday Luncheon, Ugly Christmas Sweater Party, Festival of Trees Gala, Christmas Family Fun with Santa, Daddy Daughter Sugar Plum Fairy Ball and weekend-long Santa’s Workshop, gift shops, tree viewing and local entertainment.

A special tree broke all previous tree auction records said Cindy Amerongen, NLHF executive director, in a press release.

The Hockey Bros tree featuring the hockey equipment fundraising efforts of local boys Parker and Cruz Flett was a smash hit,” said Amerongen. “When the dust settled on the competitive bidding – two winners emerged to share the tree rights for a combined bid of $100,000!”

Winners of the weekend long silent auction and raffles were contacted at the end of Festival of Trees at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18.  Items can be picked up at MacDonald until 9 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19 or at the Health Foundation’s office in the hospital starting Wednesday, Nov. 21 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
