As the final week of the 2018 Christmas Kettle Campaign approaches the Salvation Army of Fort McMurray is predicting it will miss its $200,000 goal by $60,000.

The Army is making a final push for donations as the campaign wraps up on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018.

“The Kettle Campaign is very important to the work of The Salvation Army,” says Major Stephen Hibbs, Corps Officer for The Salvation Army in Fort McMurray. “All Kettle donations stay in this community to support our year-round programs to restore hope, and to help, any person who needs us.”

This year, from April to October , The Salvation Army’s community and family services assisted 4,837 adults and 1,020 children and helped provide practical assistance to meet basic needs such as rent and food, even medications and electricity bills. Last Christmas they provided food and gifts to 561 adults and 559 children.

Donations can be made at the familiar red Kettles that are set up at seven locations, along with a digital option. Cash, debit and credit card donations can now be made right at the Kettle and online.
