The Fort McMurray Firefighters Charity Association $75,000 last year from their annual rooftop campout, whiskey auction and 2019 calendar.
The proceeds will go towards five local organizations the FMFD works closely with.
The Wood Buffalo Food Bank, Fort McMurray SPCA, Waypoints and Centre of Hope were each given $15,000.
Scott Germain, member of the FMFCA, told MyMcMurray that it’s his favourite part of the job.
“It’s just really good to be able to help people off the job, I’m mean obviously were paid to help people in the city but to be able to help people off the job is just a huge part of what we do.”
Germain said they will be continuing to help the community this year with the rooftop campout set to take place in early spring.
