Drug trafficking investigation leads to arrest

Wood Buffalo RCMP have arrested and charged a young from Fort McMurray following a month-long investigation.

On April 27, 2023, the 21-year-old male suspect was taken into police custody and charged with as many as 10 offences.

  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a restricted firearm
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000
  • Operate motor vehicle without holding subsisting operator’s licence
  • Five counts of failure to comply with release order condition

 

Investigators seized several items during the arrest, including a loaded handgun, 90 grams of suspected cocaine, 20 white pressed pills believed to be oxycodone, and $2500.

The 21-year-old remains in custody, and is due in court on May 23, 2023.
