A contractor working on a roof at an industrial facility at Syncrude’s Mildred Lake site has died in a fall.

The incident occurred on June 8, 2023.

In a release, Tim Montgomery with Chemtrade said the contract worker, whose name and age has not been released, had been working on a maintenance building at its ammonium sulphate production plant operating within the Suncor/Syncrude site.

Montgomery added the company is working closely with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Wood Buffalo RCMP to support all investigations into the incident.

In March 2023, a worker had been injured in a fall during the construction of the McMurray Métis Cultural Centre.
