Suncor Energy has confirmed one person has been injured in a bear attack at Base Plant.

Spokesman Leithan Slade said the incident occurred on May 6, 2023, at 8 p.m.

He added the victim was taken to hospital for treatment and then released a few hours later.

Slade said a full investigation is underway and wildlife management company, Bear Scare, is on site monitoring high-priority locations.

No word if the injured worker was employed by Suncor or a contractor.

On May 7, 2014, a Suncor worker was killed in a bear attack while working near Fort McMurray.
